Intention Setting
Naming the direction of a session, day, or practice before beginning, so attention has somewhere deliberate to return to.
- Purpose
- Focus
Intention setting is the act of naming what a session, day, or practice is for before it begins. An intention can be as simple as a quality of attention, a boundary for a meeting, or a direction an aim is meant to serve.
It is not a demand that the world cooperate, and it is not a performance of positivity. A stated direction can guide attention while still leaving room for interruption, grief, conflict, and a change of mind. It is most useful when it names what the person can bring rather than what others must provide.
Omzoe uses intentions to connect a small practice with a larger aim. The sentence is a compass for the next action, not a claim that one declaration determines the day.
