Scarcity Mindset
A frame of attention shaped by insufficiency and competition, distinct from the real material scarcity that may create it.

- Work and money
Scarcity mindset describes attention organised around not having enough: not enough money, time, status, opportunity, or safety. Research on scarcity has explored how pressing shortages can narrow attention toward immediate demands, while popular self-help often uses the term more loosely for fearful or competitive thinking.
It is not a diagnosis, and it is not a way to blame people for material conditions. Felt scarcity and actual scarcity can overlap, but they are not interchangeable. Someone may need more resources, not a better attitude; someone with resources may still be caught in a zero-sum frame.
Omzoe uses the distinction to keep reflection honest. A practice can ask what assumption is closing off an option while also respecting the external constraints that thought alone cannot remove.
